Anna Bartlett Warner was an author of books and religious poetry and hymns for children. Warner was born on Long Island, NY, on August 31, 1824. Her mother passed when she was still a child. She became dedicated to religion early on in her life, becoming a Christian in the late 1830s. In 1837, she moved with her family to Constitution Island. It is here that she began her career in writing, authoring many novels, children's books, and poems. She also taught Bible study to the West Point cadets for forty years, alongside her sister. In 1872, Warner published her own do-it-yourself gardening book, that included hand-drawn illustrations.
Warner passed on January 22, 1915 at the age of ninety-five.
