Bronze fourteen-foot statue depicting mounted rider. Placed upon granite pedestal. Created by Whitney in 1924.
Granite plaque featuring embossed text.
The monument is located outside of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, WY. It was officially unveiled outside of the center on the Fourth of July, 1924. Whitney was commissioned by the town of Cody to create the monument in honor of Buffalo Bill, who the town was named after. The statue was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
Attached to the monument is a plaque, recognizing Whitney as the sculptor and presenter of the statue.
