Biographical Text: Thirteen-foot granite sculpture depicting pioneer woman placed atop large granite decorative base. Bronze plaque with text adhered to base. Completed by artist Donal Hord.

The monument is located in San Diego, CA. Its creation and installation was funded by local resident Helen Towle, resulting in its dedication to her. Its official date of dedication was June 10th, 1939. In 1960 a replica was produced and sent to San Diego's sister city Yokohama, Japan to be displayed in Yamashita Park.
