Marble grave monument featuring low relief portrait on front. Bronze cast sculpture placed on top. Portrait done by artist George Zolnay.
The monument marks the grave of Ream, located in the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington Virginia. Her husband Hoxie and his second wife are buried there as well. The monument was erected by her husband in 1914 at the time of Ream's burial. A low relief portrait honoring her is placed on the front.
Ream was a renowned sculptor, known for being the youngest individual to receive a statue commission from the U.S. Congress. Atop her monument is a cast of her marble statue of Sappho. The original statue was given to the Smithsonian American Art Museum by Hoxie after Ream's death.
