Bronze plaque attached to a rough hewn stone. Denotes the importance of Hoyt to the establishment of Joshua Tree National Park. Contains bronze motifs of a Joshua Tree, a horse, and the California bear as well as star motifs.
The marker is located in the courtyard of the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center. Hoyt was an advocate for protecting desert landscapes, specifically the area which became Joshua Tree.
