Biographical Text
-
Rose garden located on the property of Sharlot Hall Museum. The bronze plaque attached to a stone denotes who the garden is dedicated to and who was a part of it's creation.
The rose garden honors Hall as well as other women who were influential in the history of Arizona. While ideas about a memorial rose garden existed for decades, it did not come into fruition until 1948. The idea was proposed to the Sharlot Hall Museum staff and the first roses were planted in March 1948.
In 1974, the garden was moved from the south side to the north side of the museum. Originally, each woman honored was represented by one bush, but now the whole garden is dedicated to all of the women.
