Eleven foot tall Tennessee marble statue in the art deco style believed to depict Delano.
The statue was commissioned to be sculpted in 1936 by Franklin D. Roosevelt to honor the Unknown Nurse in Arlington Cemetery” In 1937, this request was granted and the sculpture began to be constructed by Frances Rich. It was finished in 1938. The statue overlooks the nurse’s section of Arlington National Cemetery.
A plaque was added in 1971 to further commemorate the nurses of all the branches of the armed forces.
