Museum highlighting the history of the Ute people in Colorado.
The museum is built near the ranch of Chipeta and her husband, Chief Ouray. Chipeta is buried on property. Both the museum and the grounds are listed on the National Register of Historic places.
A renovation process began in December of 2015 and was completed in the summer of 2017. This renovation both added square footage to the museum as well as replacing sixty year old exhibits. This expansion was also designed in consultation with three Ute tribes. - Text
