Three story historic brick building located in San Francisco, California.
The Occidental Mission Home was established in 1874 by the Presbyterian Church to serve as a refuge for Chinese women and girls. Cameron came to the mission in 1895 and was later appointed the superintendent in 1899. In 1971, the building was declared a historic landmark by the city of San Francisco.
The mission moved to its current location in 1894. It was reconstructed in 1908 following the 1906 fire. In 1942, the building was officially renamed the “Donaldina Cameron House” in recognition of Cameron’s over four decades of service. Today, the Cameron House continues to serve the Chinese community of San Francisco by providing adult education services, hosting cancer support groups, counseling, domestic violence intervention, and youth programs. - Text
