Memorial tablet embedded in granite rock describing the life and accomplishments of Butler.
This memorial tablet is located in the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary. The tablet was dedicated on May 4, 1934, the year after Butler’s death. Butler’s friends and former pupils worked to raise money for the tablet. Butler’s ashes were sprinkled on the site of this memorial.
The pine oak which was originally planted at the time of the memorial was later replaced with a leatherwood shrub, which died in 2022. - Text
