Concrete cap with granite headstone atop of it. Memorial plaque attached to the side.
A concrete cap was poured on the original gravesite. In the cap are embedded stones from every Confederate state. Furthermore, before the cap was set, the grave was sprinkled with dirt from Virginia by the Ladies of the Elliot Grays Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Boyd was originally buried in 1900 with the granite headstone. However, in 1976, efforts were made to create a memorial on the site. This led to the creation of the concrete cap and other memorial events held on the site, such as a tribute held on September 12, 1976. Today, an American flag is flown at the site, however there was previously a Confederate flag at the grave. - Text
