Marble headstone denoting the service of Block as a contract nurse for the U.S. Army, which is outlined in the chiseled shape of a badge. Underneath is written the war she served in, as well as her date of death.
Block is interred at Arlington National Cemetery, due to her service in the Armed Forces. She is buried in Section 21, which is known as the “Nurses Section.”
The original headstone did not inscribe Block’s date of birth. An updated headstone lists her date of birth as “DEC 2 1867”. This update was made after 2013. The National Cemetery Administration has stated that inaccurate headstones furnished by the government will be replaced at the government’s expense. - Text
