Grace Abbott Park is a 5.4 acre recreational space in Grand Island, Nebraska. The space contains a baseball field, two tennis courts, and a playground. Centrally located in the park is a band stand, where concerts and plays are held in summer months. The public can utilize the park’s picnic tables and grills, as well as a wading pool for young children.
Grace Abbott Park is located in Abbott’s hometown. It was named in honor of her after a contest was held to determine the name of the recreational space in 1931. Abbott herself made contributions to the park, providing equipment and insight, until her death in 1939.
In October of 2022, it was announced that the playground located on the park’s property would be updated. - Text
